  • Are you drinking good coffee? Do you even know what makes a coffee good? In this weekly, coffee-break length podcast for the coffee curious, find out what actually makes a coffee good and how to go about getting it…

Hello, I’m Angela Holder, a coffee roaster and writer. I’ve worked in specialty coffee for over 20 years and during that time I have roasted A LOT of coffee and drunk more than my fair share of both good and bad coffee. I have seen at first hand how having a great coffee can turn someone’s day around and I firmly believe in the power of a good cup of coffee to put a smile on your face and make the world a better place.

Are you one of the coffee drinkers I regularly come across who feel a bit lost when it comes to basic coffee information and how to brew it well? Do you feel out of your depth when it comes to choosing a coffee in the coffee aisle of a supermarket? Do you have the nagging feeling that your coffee should taste better but you just don’t know how to make that happen? If these questions strike home with you, I’m here to tell you that - unlike me - you don’t need to take up a career in the coffee industry to improve the coffee you drink. Just listen to The Coffee Drinker’s Guide and join me in my mission to fight back against bad coffee by giving you the knowledge you need to help you get good coffee and a happier (coffee) life.

In each episode of The Coffee Drinker’s Guide I’ll riff on a theme, giving you a peek behind the scenes of the specialty coffee world, key need-to-know coffee information and of course brewing tips to help you up your coffee game. Information such as instead of using boiling water to brew your coffee, try using water at 90°Celsius or 194°Fahrenheit to instantly improve the flavour of your usual coffee. Check out why brewing water temperature matters in the very first episode. Also in each episode I tackle a Frequently Asked Coffee Question on topics such as: can you store coffee in the freezer, can you make coffee taste less bitter and can you grind coffee for instant? The answers are yes, yes and a very big no. Listen to the podcast to find out why.

My coffee philosophy is “make someone a great coffee and they will be happy, teach them how to make a great coffee and they will be empowered”. If this intrigues you and you want to up your coffee game to put a smile on your face, hit subscribe, grab your coffee and take a break…

The Coffee Drinker’s Guide is a Blue Sky Coffee project
